Research Profile:
The Fürst lab has a long-standing expertise in analyzing the organization and biochemistry of the myofibrillar cytoskeleton. Initially the group concentrated on titin and its interacting proteins, as well as the structure and interactions of the myofibrillar M-band, whereas its more recent focus has been on the myofibrillar actin cytoskeleton, in particular filamin C and its interaction partners, as well as the costameres, the structures connecting the contractile apparatus to the membrane and the extracellular matrix.
We apply a broad range of techniques that include screening for and characterizing protein-protein-interactions, myogenic cell cultures, live cell imaging as well as electron microscopy.
